Magda Linette was born in Poznań on February 12, 1992.
In singles she reached the third round in all Grand Slam events, instead in doubles she reached the semi-final of the French Open. During her career she won two WTA singles titles and finished in 18th place, as best ranking. In doubles she reached the best position nr 26 on April 11, 2022.
Magda Linette was born to Tomasz and Beata, and currently resides in Poznań, Poland. She is right-handed, she plays a two-handed backhand and is coached by Kuba Rękoś. Her favorite surfaces are concrete and clay.
Magda Linette, whose tennis idol growing up was Monica Seles, egan playing tennis when she was six. She Made her professional debut on ITF Circuit in Poland in 2007 and won her first ITF titles in 2010 in Szczecin, Hechingen (d. Soler Espinosa) and Versmold (d. Begu), and Katowice (d. Birnerova), then she was runner-up in Zagreb (l. Voracova) after 21 consecutive wins.
In 2011 she made her Grand Slam qualifying debut at Roland Garros and Us Open. In 2012 she won the $10k ITF title in Prague without dropping a set.
She played her first two WTA main draws in 2013, reaching the second-round in Strasbourg (l. Cornet) and the semifinals in Baku in her second WTA appearance (l. Peer). In December she came back to play a $25,000 tournament in Pune, which she won as the top seed.
In 2014 she on WTA 125K Series title at Ningbo as she came back from 16 04 down in the quarterfinals to beat Zheng Saisai and defeated Wang Qiang in the final. She finished the season ranked No.109.
In 2015, she broke into the Top 100 on June 15, and posted her career-high singles ranking of No.64 on September 21. That year she won her maiden Grand Slam match at Us Open (d. U.Radwanska, l. A.Radwanska) and reached her first WTA singles final at Tokyo [Japan Open] (l. Wickmayer).
In 2016 she ended the season at No.96. That season she enjoyed the first Premier-level quarterfinal at Tokyo [PPO] (as qualifier, l. eventual champion Wozniacki) and advanced to a further quarterfinal in at Katowice (l. Parmentier). At ITF level, she won the biggest title of her career on that circuit at $100k tournament in Cagnes sur Mer.
Allertova posted her best year-end finish at No.71 in 2017, her third consecutive Top 100 season. In 2017 she claimed her third tour-level semifinal in Kuala Lumpur (l. Hibino) and made the quarterfinals in Bogotá. She also posted her best Slam showing at Roland Garros, where she reached the third round losing to Svitolina in a tight match.
At the 2019 Bronx Open, she is forced to start from the qualifiers: she passes them by beating Dabrowski, Chang and Blinkova; in the first round, she draws another qualifier, Kaia Kanepi: Linette wins, 6-2 7-5. In the second round, she beats 9th seed Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-1 6-4.
In the quarterfinals, she barely eliminated the Czech Karolína Muchová, with a score of 6 (4) -7 6-4 7-6 (3), reaching the semifinals: here she found another Czech tennis player, Siniaková, head of series no. 5. Magda also manages to overcome this obstacle, winning the match 7-6 (3) 6-2 and qualifying for her second final in a WTA International of her career: in the circumstance, she finds the Italian Camila Giorgi, n. 58 in the world ranking.
Linette manages to win her first WTA title of her career, beating her opponent in comeback by 5-7 7-5 6-4. Linette becomes the second Polish tennis player in history to triumph in a WTA event: the only other one to have succeeded was Agnieszka Radwanska.
In February 2020, she plays the international of Hua Hin, where in 2019 she reached the semifinal: she easily overcomes the first two rounds against Bondarenko and Peng, both defeats in straight sets. In the quarterfinals, she came back a set behind Wang Xiyu, closing 2-6 6-3 6-3. In the semifinals, she beats Patricia Maria Tig, with a score of 7-5 6-4, accessing the 4th WTA final in her career: in the circumstance, she defeats Leonie Kung with a score of 6-3 6-2, winning the 2nd title in career. Furthermore, this laurel allows her to enter the top 35 in the world, finishing in 33rd place in the ranking, a new best-ranking. Afterwards, she is immediately eliminated by Karolína Muchová in two partials (3-6 1-6).
Linette begins 2022 in Adelaide, where she immediately gives in to Riske (4-6 4-6). At the Australian Open, she hits her first success of the season against Sevastova (6-4 7-5) only to lose to Kasatkina in straight sets. In St. Petersburg she immediately leave the scene against Sasnovic while in Dubai you don't pass the qualifiers; in Doha she ousted Riske (2-6 7-6 (5) 6-1) only to then be eliminated from the top-10 Barbora Krejcikova by 1-6 3-6.
At Indian Wells she immediately fell to Sharma while, at Miami, she was defeated by Jabeur in the second round. On clay in Charleston, the Pole hits the first quarter-final of the season beating Volynets (4-6 6-3 7-6(4)), the No. 7 of the seeding Fernandez (3-6 6-3 6-4) and Kanepi (6-3 4-6 6-2). Among the last eight, she clearly loses from Aleksandrova (0-6 2-6). She also reaches the quarterfinals in Strasbourg, being eliminated by Angelique Kerber (2-6 6-4 4-6).
At the beginning of 2023, she reached 18th place in the WTA ranking.
