"It's not easy, to be honest. It was a very tough match. It's always difficult to lose like this, especially after such a tough match and after serving to win. I had the chance to close it out several times and I couldn't do it. I did everything to get closer. I did everything to get closer to that situation, I pushed myself to the maximum at every moment.

I really liked the atmosphere, the support of the people. I really appreciate people's affection, I don't take it for granted, I tried to enjoy it and make the most of it. It's difficult to lose a match like that, because now I know I won't play for a few days," said Stan Wawrinka, who lost in Buenos Aires to Nicolas Jarry (who also beat Carlitos Alcaraz in the semi-final - ed.).

Speaking at the press conference, on the verge of tears, the Swiss champion explained why this defeat is so difficult to stomach.

"Every defeat is hard to stomach. I'm probably a little harder to stomach now because I know there's not a long way to go. This match was so emotional for me because I saw so much support on the pitch, so much love from part of the crowd, that I pushed myself to the limit to try to get the win.

I tried to stay positive throughout the match, my general level was good. There are many positive things I can take from this tournament, my level was very good, this is only my second tournament of the year. It was difficult to lose such an important match, I would have liked to stay a little longer here in Buenos Aires," he analyzed.

It's always difficult to see an athlete come to tears after a match. It is even more so if we are talking about a man and a tennis player of the caliber of Stanislas Wawrinka. By his own admission, the Swiss is in the final stages of his splendid career, embellished with 3 slams.

The determination and passion that the champion from Lausanne brings to the pitch is always the same, but his physical ailments understandably affect his performances and therefore the results on the court.
