Player history

Karen Khachanov was born in Moscow on May 21, 1996. In his career he won four ATP titles, including a Masters 1000 title in Paris-Bercy, reaching 8th position as his best ranking on July 8, 2019.

In the tournaments of the Grand Slam boasts semifinals at US Open 2022 and Australian Open 2023 as well as quarterfinals at French Open 2019 and Wimbledon 2021. He won the silver medal in singles at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

He started playing tennis at the age of three. His father, Abgar, was a top-level Armenian volleyball player before studying medicine and becoming a urologist, while his mother is a nurse. He has a sister, Margarita, and a brother, Georgy. His idols are Marat Safin and Juan Martín del Potro. He supports Real Madrid and the Miami Heat.

In 2023, the Russian tennis player reached the semifinal at the Australian Open. He told after this result: "I think the semifinals I made at the US Open last year gave me further confidence and momentum, thus showing who I am and what I am capable of.

Believing in what I can do when I'm at my best and how I can be so consistent when I play like this. Putting all of that together, that accomplishment propelled me to where I am now. There is a healthy competition among us Russians, to see who goes further, to see who is the best.

In the last two years we have changed. Daniil was ahead of us, but Andrey was still in the top 10, playing the Finals. I was top 20, top 15. At one point I went down a bit in the rankings when I had some personal problems, those were hard times for me, but I always believed in my chances and in what I had to do to give the best of myself.

So I think this kind of competition between us is something positive that helps us to be better. Watch Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. I don't want to compare them to us of course, but they also pushed each other to be better."

He has been married to Veronika Skljaeva since 2016. The two had a son, David, born on September 14, 2019. In April 2016, Khachanov married Veronika Shkliaeva, his childhood sweetheart, whom he had been dating since 2011. Their first child was born in 2019. Tennis partner Ilya Ivashka is his brother-in-law, as their wives are twin sisters.

In March 2022, Russia's state-run RIA Novosti reported that, during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Khachanov had removed the Russian flag from his Instagram page.

During the 2023 Australian Open, Khachanov wrote messages on the camera lens (traditionally signed by the winner after a match) following his victories over Frances Tiafoe and Yoshihito Nishioka, expressing support for the Republic of Artsakh during the 2022-2023 lockout.

Azerbaijan's tennis federation has complained to the International Tennis Federation, demanding that Khachanov receive retribution for his dirty plans. Khachanov said he was not deterred by the ITF or anyone else for his messages.

Russian tennis player Karen Khachenov has an estimated net worth of $15 million in 2023. Khachanov has earned approximately $10,270,529 from tennis prize money.
