Jannik Sinner is proving to be one of the tennis players to beat at the Australian Open. The Italian has reached the quarterfinals of the first Major of the season, where he will face the Russian Andrey Rublev. Jannik left crumbs to his opponents by destroying Sebastian Baez and Karen Khachanov in the last two rounds.

The Italian hasn't lost a single set since the start of the tournament and, on the horizon, a semi-final against Novak Djokovic seems to be visible. It seems that 2023 is not over: Sinner continues in the wake of the successes we also saw at the ATP Finals in Turin and in the Davis Cup.

After the victory against Khachanov, Jannik analyzed the match with his usual humility, thanking the Melbourne crowd for the atmosphere and explaining the keys to today's victory.

"It had been a while since I faced Karen, we had faced each other here in 2021 and it was a very tough match. It's always difficult to play against him, I tried to stay in the match physically and mentally. Thanks to you, it's always a pleasure to play in front of this crowd.

Every battle has its story, today I won and I'm obviously very happy. We have a fairly similar game, we hit flat, hard, it's a bit of a ping-pong competition. I tried to vary the game a bit and it worked. There are so many emotions.

I think I played that point well, tennis sometimes gives you some disappointments. But I try to keep a poker face. When I play in Italy, it's tough for the opponents. I will certainly watch the match between Alex and Rublev, I like playing tennis but also watching it a lot," said Jannik.

Courier mocks Sinner: "You have a secret like Michael Jordan!"

Meanwhile, the former American champion Jim Courier, still courtside after Jannik's big win against Baez, stopped Sinner and the two talked. The former American legend asked: "You said the other day that you wish you had a Baywatch physique, but without these muscles how can you shoot so hard? Surely it must be the racket, is it that good? Do me a favor, I need of a new racket, tell me where to buy it. As with Michael Jordan the secret was the shoes, but with you it's the racket!"
