Ons Jabeur: I probably came back too early

Ons Jabeur admits she probably came back to action too early but noted that she is a competitor and can't simply sit at home and be missing the biggest tournaments. In February, Jabeur had a minor surgery. Jabeur, seeded at No 4, returned to action on Saturday as she defeated Magdalena Frech 4-6 6-4 6-1 in her Indian Wells opener.

"You know, it's a tough decision to come back, and I was the one that insisted that I come back in Indian Wells and Miami. It was probably too early to come back, but I just made it a new challenge for myself. I did regret it after the first set (smiling).

But then, you know, I just told myself to accept what's happening, to fight through it, and to just see how it goes. I'm sure it will get better and better every match," Jabeur said, per Sportskeeda. Also, fourth-ranked Jabeur underlined that she needs to play in order in order not to plummet in the rankings.

"First, I'm an athlete and it's tough to stay out of competition for a long time. I was missing to be on the court. You know, I just didn't want to go behind of the ranking too much. I missed already two 500s and a 1000 and there is two 1000s coming," Jabeur said.

Jabeur recovered to beat Frech

After earning the first set break of the match in the eighth game for a 5-3 lead, Frech failed to serve out for the opener in the ninth game. Frech maybe didn't manage to serve out for the first set but she broke Jabeur again in the 10th game, when the Tunisian was serving to stay in the opener.

After losing the first set, Jabeur broke Frech in the third game of the second set but got broken back immediately in the following game. However, Jabeur blowing an early second-set break didn't impact Jabeur, who broke Frech again in the ninth game and served out for the set in the 10th game. In the third set, Jabeur broke Frech three times to complete her comeback win.
