ATP Rotterdam 2022: Andrey Rublev IMITATES Benoit Paire!
by LORENZO CIOTTI
Andrey Rublev began his adventure in the ATP 500 in Rotterdam in the best possible way, overcoming the first round of the competition. Laaksonen from Switzerland surrendered to the Russian player with a double 6-4. For the seeder number seven of the tournament, the breaks centered in the first and second set respectively in the seventh and third games were decisive.
During the challenge on Dutch soil, the 24-year-old native of Moscow invented and took home a truly spectacular point: when he went down to the net, he managed to make the short ball, which took on such a particular effect that it returned to its side of the court, absolutely not giving the possibility to his opponent to respond.
Rublev thus imitated the Frenchman Benoit Paire, who last year on clay was the protagonist of a similar feat. Paire was, last season, protagonist of a lot ocìf controversies, especially after his statement about the COVID-19 vaccine.
