The young British tennis player Emma Raducanu passed the 1st round of the Abu Dhabi Open, beating the Czech Marie Bouzkova in straight sets (6-4 6-1), qualifying for the 2nd round of the Asian tournament, where she will face On Jabeur in what it will be a very challenging match, to understand what his current psycho-physical state of form is.

Her former coach, Mark Petchey, analyzed the young British girl's victory, underlining how Raducanu's haters will now have no way to leave negative comments. This is in fact due to the excellent performance expressed by the former winner of the US Open 2021 in the match against the Czech.

Petchey, currently a commentator and analyst, and who coached Raducanu in 2020, wrote on X: "The naysayers won't have much more time to be negative about Emma Raducanu. Better fill their boots before she gets back into the business of most events."

Emma is trying to get back to 100%

Emma hopes to return to a good level soon, working hard by participating in more tournaments. This week she returned to the field in Abu Dhabi, where tomorrow, as I wrote a few lines above, a treacherous second round against Ons Jabeur awaits her.

Raducanu, before the tournament, said that at the moment she is far from 100% of her, but she is working to continue improving and has well-defined goals for the start of this season.

Emma reached the round of 16 at ASB Classic 2024 while she exited in the 2nd round of the Australian Open. But her performances, after ten months of stopping, were encouraging.

"I'm just trying to improve my game, I'm not a finished product but far from it, I feel now is the time to make a breakthrough, in the last two years I've had several illnesses and injuries now I can't wait to focus on the court and improve my level, so the results will come. I'm still looking for the best condition and to feel comfortable on the playing court, I'm not completely there yet but I know that with time I will become competitive again. I'm patient and I'm quite grateful for what's around me, I'm trying really hard."
