Mark Petchey, born in 1970, obtained his best singles ranking on August 8, 1994 with the 80th position, while in doubles he became the 104th in the ATP ranking on August 5, 1996.

In his career, in doubles, he won only one tournament on the ATP circuit out of a total of two finals played. His only victory came in 1996 in the Nottingham Open paired with compatriot Danny Sapsford.

On that occasion they beat the duo formed by the British Neil Broad and the South African Piet Norval with the result of 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. The best result obtained in the grand slam tournaments was the third round reached in singles in the 1997 Wimbledon tournament. His defeat came at the hands of the German Boris Becker who overcame him in three sets with a score of 3-6, 3-6 , 2-6.

He was part of the British Davis Cup squad from 1991 to 1997 on eleven occasions with a combined record of six wins and eleven losses.
