Stanford University will clash Ohio State at the ITA National Championships

No.2 Stanford University women's tennis team qualified for the quarterfinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, thanks to the victory against No.8 Florida Gators for 4-0. In the quarterfinals, the Cardinals will face No.12 Ohio State University, which defeated No.4 Georgia.

For the Cardinal, who snapped a three-game losing streak against the Gators, it was the program's first win over Florida since a 4-3 win in the NCAA Round of 16 on May 19, 2016.

The Cardinal triumphed in the doubles thanks to victories by Connie Ma and Alexandra Yepifanova on court two and Katherine Hui and Valencia Xu on court three.

In singles, Yepifanova and Angelica Blake finished their victories in less than an hour. Yepifanova eliminated Emily De Oliveria 6-0, 6-2, and Blake beat Carly Briggs for 6-1, 6-2. Connie Ma needed an hour and 13 minutes, but she triumphed over Rachel Gailis, with the final score of 6-3, 6-2, to send Stanford ahead.

With four singles wins, the Ohio State women's tennis team defeated Georgia in the first round of the ITA National Indoor Team Championship, on Friday, in Seattle.

The Buckeyes lost the doubles point and first singles match to the Bulldogs. Irina Cantos Siemers put Ohio State on the board but Georgia responded to make it 3-1. It was all Buckeyes from there on out, as Luciana Perry, Shelly Bereznyak and Sydni Ratliff all picked up wins for the team. Buckeye's four singles victories all came in straight sets.
