Daniil Medvedev reveals what happened after Monte Carlo drama with Alexander Zverev

Daniil Medvedev reveals he spoke with Alexander Zverev after the Monte Carlo Masters incident and hinted that they cleared the air. After Medvedev edged out Zverev in a Monte Carlo round-of-16 thriller, the Russian was given a very cold handshake by the German and afterward called "one of the most unfair players in the world" by his rival.

On Tuesday, Medvedev defeated Barnabe Zapata Miralles to progress into the Rome Masters round-of-16. Following his win over Zapata Miralles, Medvedev knew he would meet either Zverev or JJ Wolf in his next match. Since Zverev has also defeated Wolf, it is all set for another Medvedev and Zverev match on Tuesday evening.

Medvedev on playing Zverev again, the Monte Carlo incident

'"Could be exciting. I mean, all of our matches are exciting, the last two were crazy — Indian Wells and Monte-Carlo. We hadn't played for a long time, he was injured and actually, we didn't play in 2022 at all, I guess.

And that's a little bit crazy because we have played like 15 times already. Talking about Monte-Carlo [incident], we talked about it afterwards, so I think everything is fine. Yeah, seems like everything is fine for both of us.

You know, I lost a match against Holger [Rune] when I was speaking about this incident, he lost a match against me. It happens. So I think we're fine but it doesn't mean that if we're playing tomorrow, there's not going to be something.

You never know. We're both competitors," Medvedev said, via Sportskeeda. When Medvedev and Zverev meet in Rome, it will be their third meeting of the season. So far, Medvedev and Zverev have had two very thrilling matches. Before edging out Zverev in a Monte Carlo thriller, Medvedev also outlasted the German in the Indian Wells Masters round-of-16 6-7 (5) 7-6 (5) 7-5. It remains to be seen if Medvedev and Zverev can deliver another blockbuster meeting.
