Carlos Alcaraz reveals his three big goals after Rio Open victory

Rising Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz has set the highest possible goals for himself as he wants to win multiple Grand Slams and become a world No. 1. Alcaraz, 18, captured his second ATP title on Sunday after beating Diego Schwartzman 6-4 6-2 in the Rio de Janeiro final.

Alcaraz, who entered the week enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 29 in the world, climbed up nine positions on the ATP rankings following his Rio de Janeiro victory. At just 18, Alcaraz already has two ATP titles in his collection and he is a top-20 player.

"I am a boy with big dreams: I want to become number one in the world, be multiple Slam champion and win Olympic medals," Alcaraz said, per Mario Boccardi.

Alcaraz's run to the Rio de Janeiro title also included wins over Jaume Munar, Federico Delbonis, Matteo Berrettini and Fabio Fognini.

“I can’t believe it, honestly. It has been a great week for me playing a great level,” Alcaraz said in his on-court interview. “First tournament on clay since a long time, so I’m really happy with the performance during the whole week.

It’s an amazing feeling right now”. Schwartzman made a positive start to the final, having claimed the first break of the match in the second game to take an early 2-0 lead. However, Schwartzman's lead was short-lived as Alcaraz broke back in the third game.

After getting the break back in the third gane, Alcaraz earned his second break in the ninth game and served out for the opener in the following game. Alcaraz started the second set with a break but Schwartzman broke back in the second game.

Getting broken back in the second game didn't impact Schwartzman as he claimed back-to-back breaks to win four games in a row and open a comfortable 5-1 second set lead. Schwartzman served out the seventh game to reduce the deficit to 5-2 but Alcaraz served out for the match in the eighth game.
