Aliaksandra Sasnovich shows major respect for Victoria Azarenka

Belarusian tennis player Aliaksandra Sasnovich spoke extremely highly of fellow compatriot ahead of their clash at the Indian Wells Masters. Sasnovich, ranked at No. 100 in the world, is set to meet former world No. 1 Azarenka in the Indian Wells round-of-16.

On Sunday, Sasnovich stunned former world No. 1 Simona Halep 7-5 6-4 to progress into the last-16 in Indian Wells. "She is, like Simona, one of the strongest characters on the Tour. She's a big fighter. I love her style of tennis.

She has a nice plan against every player she plays," Sasnovich said of Azarenka, per WTA Insider. "For example, if I need to do a plan, like I play tommorow against, like, Cirstea. I'm going to watch how Azarenka played against her because, in my opinion, she has the best plans of how she needs to play against these players.

It will be a very interesting match."

Sasnovich having an outstanding Indian Wells campaign

Sasnovich has already beaten two big names in Indian Wells and she will be aiming to beat a third big name when she meets Azarenka.

In the second round, Sasovich saw off US Open champion Emma Raducanu 6-2 6-4. "Aliaksandra played an extremely great match. You could tell she was more experienced than me, executed her game plan better than me and she deserved to win,” said Raducanu after the loss.

“You get sharp by playing matches and I’m not match tight right now. I’ve not played a competition in a month, since the US Open, and that (sharpness) will come by playing week in, week out. “So what do I need to work on? I’ll probably go back and review the match, probably tomorrow and look at it with a clear head.

From there I’ll be able to plan. It’s going to take me time to adjust to what is going on. I’m still so new to everything."
