Hamburg European Open: Anett Kontaveit & Bernarda Pera set title showdown in Germany

Anett Kontaveit and Bernarda Pera will take on each other in the final of the Hamburg European Open on Saturday. On Friday, both players won their respective semi-final matches. In the first semi-final, Pera upset seventh seed Maryna Zanevska 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 20 minutes.
Per a won 73% of her first-serve points to the Belgian's 56%. She lost her serve once in the but also converted four break points on Zanevska's serve. Furthermore, Pera had nine more winners to Zanevska's 14 and two fewer unforced errors than her 16.

Meanwhile, in the second semi-final, the Estonian – the top seed in the event – took out Anastasia Potapova 6-3, 7-5 in an hour and 43 minutes.
Kontaveit lost her serve five times but went on to break Potapova's serve seven times for the match. After her win, Kontaveit shared, “I thought I had to play really good tennis to beat Anastasia today. I’m very happy with the way I was fighting and trying my hardest for every point.
The Hamburg European Open final's the second straight – and career – final for Bernarda Pera, who will try to win the second title of her career. Her opponent's looking to win her seventh.
