Bernarda Pera, 27, opens up after back-to-back titles: I was fed up with everything

Bernarda Pera, 27, revealed she was "fed up with everything" just days before he went on a big run to win back-to-back titles. Earlier this month in Budapest, Pera claimed her maiden WTA title as a qualifier. In Budapest, Pera won a total of seven matches - all in straight sets.

Then the following week in Hamburg, Pera put up another great week as she won five matches - all in five sets - to win back-to-back titles and clinch her second WTA title. “The week before Budapest, I was talking to Kristina (Mladenovic) about how I was fed up with everything – playing well, but not being able to break through,” Pera told Tennis Majors.

Pera absolutely dominated in Budapest, Hamburg

Winning 12 matches in a row - all in straight sets - is certainly a very impressive accomplishment. In the Hamburg final, Pera saw off second-ranked Anett Kontaveit 6-2 6-4.

Interestingly, Pera won her first WTA title without her coach in her box. In Budapest, Pera was with her boyfriend - who doesn't know much about tennis but was still a great support. "Actually, I have been feeling well on the court for quite some time now – in practice that is.

I just have not been able to translate it to matches. I miscommunicated with my coach about his arrangements, so I was coachless at Budapest, but it turned out really well because it somehow made me more relaxed coming into the tournament.

I was there with my boyfriend – he does not know much about tennis, but he was a great support. Things started to take a turn, I played better and better, gained more confidence with each win. In Hamburg, I think my level was even higher than in Budapest," Pera revealed.

After winning back-to-back titles, Pera decided not to play this week. Pera's confidence levels have certainly never been higher and the 27-year-old will certainly be looking to continue her strong form during the North American hard court swing.
