Belinda Bencic jokingly threatened Ons Jabeur to "kill her" if she pulls off a magic trick shot in a future Grand Slam final between them. On Sunday, Jabeur pulled off a breathtaking tweener during a 7-6 (6) 6-4 Charleston final win over Bencic.
Leading 5-4 and serving for the first set, Bencic faced a break point when Jabeur pulled off this to get the break and eventually steal the first set from the Swiss.
"I will have to accept the fact, and hope that maybe I will play her in a Grand Slam final and she will not do this.a front tweener? 😳

If she will do this, I will kill her. The tiebreak at 6-4, I think three out of the four points she hit just a straight line. And this is well done because she went for the shot, and it paid off. Maybe in another time it will not pay off,"
Bencic said, per the WTA website.
Bencic looking forward to future meetings against Jabeur
Jabeur now owns a 3-2 head-to-head against Bencic. Bencic beat Jabeur at the 2021 Madrid Open and also defeated the Tunisian in the 2022 Charleston final. Since then, Jabeur has claimed three consecutive wins over Bencic.
Last year, Jabeur beat Bencic at the Madrid Open and she also beat the Swiss in the Berlin final. "Last year, I won against her in Charleston. She beat me in Madrid and the Berlin final. So maybe she won this year and I am going to beat her in Madrid and Berlin final.
I don't know. For sure, I will go to sleep thinking about this shot, like it will be in front of my eyes, but next week I will not think about it anymore because we have a new tournament. My career is so long. I will play many finals. I will lose many, I will win many, but there are no regrets for that," Bencic said.
