´Disappointed´ Arantxa Rus extends her losing-streak to 17

Dutch player Arantxa Rus is suffering from the worst days of her tennis-career, as she has been struggling to pull-off a victory since 17 odd matches now. On Tuesday, the 5'11" southpaw, suffered another defeat when she lost to Olga Puchkova of Russia 4-6, 2-6 in the first round of the Wimbledon Championships 2013.

The 22-year-old had reached the career-high rank of #61 in August 2012, but has failed to do well thereafter, which has led to a deep fall in her rankings, as she clings at #156 in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.

Rus, who reached the third round of the Wimbledon last year, last won a match way back in August 2012, where she defeated Romina Oprandi 7-5, 6-4 in the first-round encounter in Texas. She then lost to Serbian Jelena Jankovic 7-6, 6-2, which marked the beginning of her losing streak.

According to the official records of the WTA, Rus has equaled the record for maximum number of losing streak (17 matches) with American Sandy Collins.
