SHAME IN ROME! Disaster in the award ceremony, Elena Rybakina MORTIFIED!

Sensational what happened in the women's singles award ceremony at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, in Rome, with the champion Elena Rybakina, and her rival Anhelina Kalinina humiliated by the announcer, and not only. It all started with the on-the-court announcer of the awards, who, upon receiving a picture representing the WTA's gratitude to the Italian Open, called the deputy CEO of the Italian Tennis and the winner of the tournament, Elena Rybakina.

However the announcer called Rybakina by the name of her opponent, Anhelina Kalinina! Much to Elena Rybakina's embarrassment, who presented herself visibly bewildered. Later, the announcer on the awards court again made an embarrassing confusion: he called Anhelina Kalinina by the name of Elena Rybakina!

The two tennis players, at this point, were visibly banned during the speeches on court. Finally, there was even an error in the presentation of the two prizes, with the announcer and the staff swapping the prizes! The announcer also repeatedly stressed how sorry he was about Anhelina Kalinina's injury, as well as repeatedly belittling Rybakina's wins.

As the crowd booed, seeing the grotesque spectacle put on by the announcers, the second presenter called on the crowd to cheer, saying:, "Do it for the girls." The crowd booed what was happening. A shame for a tournament of this level, which highlighted the embarrassing superficiality with which the award ceremony was organized.

The final

There is not much to tell about the women's final. In the middle of the first set, Kalinina, who was ahead by a break, already feels a physical problem. It's what will hinder her throughout the first set and what will lead her, in tears, to a definitive decision: at 4-6, 0-1, her withdrawal arrives.

Thus Elena Rybakina becomes the new champion of the Italian Open. Today there will be the final of the men's singles, between Daniil Medvedv and Holger Rune. Rune won his semifinal against Casper Ruud in a comeback, with the result 6-7 6-4 6-3. Medvedev defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals with the result of 7-5 7-5.
