Roberto Bautista Agut reacts to destroying Cristian Garin at ATP Cup

Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut was more than satisfied with the way he started his season at the ATP Cup. Bautista Agut, ranked at No. 19 in the world, destroyed world No. 17 Cristian Garin 6-0 6-3 in his first match of the season in Sydney.

Bautista Agut's win over Garin sealed victory for Spain over Chile as Pablo Carreno Busta beat Alejandro Tabilo in the opening match of the tie. “Today was a good start for me. I played very solid and I’m very happy to get the win,” Bautista Agut said, per the ATP Cup website.

“I like the conditions and this court. Sydney is a great city, so it’s very good to start the year playing ATP Cup”.

Bautista Agut cruised past Garin

Bautista Agut got off to the best possible start to the match as he broke Garin three times and didn't allow the Chilean a single break point in the first set to routinely win the opener.

Garin finally got on the board when he served out the second game of the second set to level the set at one game apiece. Bautista Agut claimed the first break of the second set in the fourth game but got broken back in the fifth game.

However, Bautista Agut kept his composure and broke Garin again in the sixth game. Bautista Agut then routinely served out for the match in the ninth game. In the opening match of the tie, Carreno Busta beat world No. 139 Tabilo 6-4 7-6 (4).

Tabilo was twice up by a break in the first set and also up by a break in the second set but Carreno Busta recovered in both sets to claim a straight-set win. After the match, world No. 20 Carreno Busta was glad he survived the Tabilo challenge.

"It was very difficult at the beginning of the match because he was playing unbelievable," Carreno Busta said.. "I was fighting all the time... and I ended up playing much better than I started."
