Brisbane International

The Brisbane International is a men's and women's (combined) tennis tournament held at the Queensland Tennis Center in Brisbane, Australia. The men's tournament played its last edition in 2019, replaced by the ATP Cup. The 2021 women's edition is not played due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The tournament was created at the initiative of the Australian tennis federation during the reform of the ATP and WTA calendars which took effect in 2009. The Adelaide Tournament (formerly known as the South Australian Open) was merged with the Australian Women's Hardcourt tournament women's Tier III category which until that year had been held in the Gold Coast, to form a single tournament to be played at the new Queensland Tennis Center in Brisbane.

The event was scheduled for January as a preparatory tournament for the Australian Open, and was ranked at the ATP 250 level for men and WTA International for women. In 2012, however, the women's tournament moved up in category to become a WTA Premier.

In 2019 the last edition of the men's tournament takes place which, in fact, will be replaced the following year by the Adelaide International. The ATP Cup tournament for nations will still be held in Brisbane.

In 2021 the women's tournament should have become a WTA 500 but, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the tournament was canceled for 2 consecutive editions and in 2023 it was not included scheduled again, without however being officially cancelled.
