Federico Coria tests positive for virus upon arriving to Sydney

World No. 63 Federico Coria tested positive for COVID-19.

Coria, 29, was hoping to kick off his 2022 season by representing Argentina at the ATP Cup. Unfortunately for the Argentine, he will have to spend some time in isolation and he won't be able to represent Argentine at the ATP Cup, that starts this week.

Coria enjoyed a breakout season in 2021 as made his maiden ATP final in Bastad and reached a career-high ranking of No. 61.

Coria positive, Nadals returns a negative test

After returning home from the Mubadala World Tennis Champioships 10 days ago, Nadal announced: "On my return home after playing the Abu Dhabi tournament, I have tested positive for Covid in the PCR test that was performed on me when I arrived in Spain.

"Both in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi we passed controls every two days and all were negative, the last being on Friday and having the results on Saturday. "I am having some unpleasant moments but I hope that I will improve little by little.

I am now homebound and have reported the result to those who have been in contact with me. "As a consequence of the situation, I have to have total flexibility with my calendar and I will analyse my options depending on my evolution.

"I will keep you informed of any decisions about my future tournaments! Thank you all in advance for your support and understanding." Luckily, Nadal has since returned a couple of negative tests and he has returned to the practice court.

After his campaign at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, Nadal didn't want to fully confirm that he would play the Australian Open.

However, Nadal did said that he would try to play at Melbourne Park. "At the moment, Djokovic is playing well and he is healthy, but I [also] think Rafael Nadal has a chance to win the Australian Open, for sure," David Ferrer said.
