Monte Carlo: Zverev, Medvedev and the day 4 Highlights

Casper Ruud wins with difficulty against Botic Van De Zandzchulp in two sets: 7-5, 7-6 is the final result, with the Norwegian forced to come back in the second set, at the Monte Carlos Rolex Masters 2023. An easier victory, however, for Alexander Zverev: he beat Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets with a double 6-4.

The German awaits Daniil Medvedev who defeated Lorenzo Sonego. There is no story on the main court between Jannik Sinner and Diego Schwartzman: victory for the Italian tennis player for the withdrawal of the Argentine after a 6-0, 3-1.

Exchanges are few and far between, with the Argentine unable to get the ball past the net: all due to a shoulder problem. The first set is a story written by a single player, namely by the number one in Italy. The Argentine tennis player does not find the field, neither forehand nor backhand, just as the service is inconsistent, including dangerous double faults.

This single score led to the production of a 5-0 without history: Sinner was more in difficulty on his turn of service than in response, where he dominated by conceding only two points to his opponent. A situation that is the result of a shoulder problem for the former world number eight, who calls the physiotherapist to try to continue.

Sinner goes to serve without any problems and in just under half an hour he wins the first set. In the second part there is the pride of Schwartzman, who wins the first service game, but returns to the starting point again.

This is why the Argentine opts for retirement. In the third round is Huber Hurkacz, who won against Jack Draper. Devastating Lorenzo Musetti in his second match: he won the derby in the second round against Luca Nardi with the result of 6-0, 6-0, in just 50 minutes of play.

The player from qualifying was never really in the game, overwhelmed by the game of Italy's number two and also by a different physical condition. Now for the number 21 in the world there is number one Novak Djokovic, in the rematch on red clay of what was the 2021 Roland Garros challenge.
