Daniel Evans not worried about Andy Murray following injury scare

Great Britain's Daniel Evans is not too much concerned about Andy Murray's setback as he feels the three-time Grand Slam champion knows how to prepare himself for Wimbledon. Murray, 35, sustained an abdominal injury during his Stuttgart final match versus Matteo Berrettini.

Murray was scheduled to play at the Queen's Club this week but he was forced to pull out of the tournament. “It’s not ideal [for Murray]," Evans said. “I don’t know if he is [injured] or not or what the deal is.

But if anybody knows how to prepare himself for Wimbledon, it’s him. I don’t think if he’s play this week or next week, in my opinion it wouldn’t matter for his preparations as long as he can prepare.

If he can still play tennis in a week or so, he’ll be okay. So in that sense, it’s not ideal, but it’s not the end of the world for him”.

Evans confident Murray can prepare well for Wimbledon

Murray is a two-time Wimbledon champion, having won it all at The Championships in 2013 and 2016.

Murray, who is a record five-time Queen's champion, was hoping to make strong runs in Stuttgart and Queen's ahead of Wimbledon. “After having a scan this afternoon, an abdominal injury means I won’t be fit to compete at Queen’s this year,” Murray said in a statement.

“The tournament means a lot to me, and it’s disappointing not to compete, especially after playing some good matches on the grass already”. Even though Murray was injured, he was still able to push Berrettini into three sets in the Stuttgart final.

“There’s been a lot of progress the last few weeks and I’m looking forward to what the future has to hold,” Murray said. “Feeling a lot better about my game and hopefully my body can hold up a little while longer”.
