Serena Williams stands by Coric's "gelato" secret for killing it in Rome

After beating Fabian Maroszan, who kicked out soon-to-be world number 1 Carlos Alcaraz, in three sets, and setting up a quarter-final against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Croatian Borna Coric shared the secret of getting far in the Rome Open.

As soon as Serena Williams spotted Borna's secret, she reacted with an encouraging "Leggo." Coric shared his secret in an Instagram post. "You want to know the secret? Promise yourself a gelato per day for as long as you are in Rome and you will give all you have to stay another day.

Great match yesterday," Coric wrote on Instagram.

Since in 2022, Coric was defeated in the first round at the Italian Open, his secret was likely just recently discovered, even though he posted a video of himself eating an ice-cream in Italy last year.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether this secret will make him play well enough to grab the title.

Serena once spent an "incredible night" with Coric

In the summer of 2022, Serena Williams, Billie Jean King, Borna Coric, and Reilly Opelka dined with Clarvie Magloire, and Linda Fruhvirtova during what was assumed to be a generational conversation between the tennis stars sponsored by Wilson.

More specifically, the meeting was a dinner conversation among current ATP and WTA players, next-generation stars, and junior players.

All were playing with Wilson racquets. "What a night!” said Billie Jean King on Instagram. The official Instagram account of the Wilson brand reacted to BJK's post: “What an incredible night!”
