Ben Shelton has revealed who his favorite tennis player is. The young North American tennis star chose this year to dedicate himself completely to the ATP circuit, putting an end to his university career. In one year, the young talent reached the Slam semifinal at the US Open, conquered the ATP 500 in Tokyo and climbed the rankings.

On indoor hard courts in the second part of the season, the results increased. Shelton also wants to continue this trend in Vienna, where he will face Jannik Sinner again in the first round of the ATP 500, after the American's victory at the Masters 1000 in Shanghai.

The US tennis player, in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, talked about many topics, including his rival Jannik Sinner. "He is only a year older than me and has achieved a lot. He leads a fantastic generation of young Italians and is among the top 5 of the next few years."

The Flushing Meadows semi-finalist is only the latest, perhaps the brightest, expression of American tennis. There are four US tennis players in the top 20: Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul. "We are many and strong.

Personally, I aim to lead my country first in the Davis Cup and next season at the Olympics. My favorite American tennis player has always been my father. If I have to go beyond the family circle, then I say Andy Roddick," he told.

Shelton also talked about the Big Three. He, who wears the brand of which Roger Federer holds a part of the company's shares, but who is left-handed like Rafael Nadal. "I studied Nadal and tried to steal some secrets from him.

But my favorite has always been Roger. Novak Djokovic? In three years he will still be a top 5, he will still win tournaments," explained Shelton. The American tennis player will play in a couple of hours against Jannik Sinner, in Vienna, in one of the most awaited match of the Austrian tournament.
