After the Australian Open 2024, Jannik Sinner won Rotterdam, but we are only at the beginning of the season. In an interview granted to Gazzetta dello Sport, Sinner talked about many topics, including his tennis, his goals and his family.
"I can't help but enjoy this third place which means greater awareness and physique. My team and I know well, with the work we do, that we must continue to walk and work. Victories come from far away, from everyday work that you don't see.
The effort and sacrifices, my gaze is constantly and professionally aimed at improving. I thought about relieving moments of tension, while remaining focused. You have to remember to smile every now and then and appreciate how lucky you are to do this job," said Sinner.
"I missed my parents a lot"
Last year Jannik lost the final in Rotterdam against Medvedev, his fifth defeat in five previous matches, but a lot has changed since then. Jannik also beat the Russian in the Australian Open final and overtook him in the ATP rankings.
"It means that we worked well, taking advantage of experiences is always important and winning Rotterdam was very important for me. This tournament marked the most important stages of my career and I hope to return here to celebrate new goals together. I missed my parents a lot and above all I will go to my grandparents.
They are getting older and I see them very little. I want to enjoy some time with them and then I will stay for a while to rest. Ski? I don't think I can do it, some time to rest and then I'll go back to Munich to get back to work. I'll do a week of work and then I'll leave for America," he explained.
Sinner will in fact face the two ATP Masters 1000 on North American hard-courts in Indian Wells and Miami, where there too he will be one of the big favorites for the final victory of the tournament.
