The US tennis player Frances Tiafoe talked about his 2023 season in an interview on the official ATP website, expressing his point of view on the season just concluded. The young American did not say he was fully satisfied with how he played, nor with the results he achieved.

Furthermore, the US explained how he put too much pressure on himself. "For much of 2023 I put pressure on myself, it was very complicated for me. Last year I was very results-oriented, maybe too much so, but it was still a fantastic year, even if I didn't play as well as I would have liked in the big events.

When I didn't get what I wanted, here came the problems, which became worse at the end of the season. Now my intention is to get back to doing what I do best, having fun and competing at a high level," he explained.

The American tennis player who reached the top-10 in June 2023, then added: "I'm trying to let my personality emerge again.

Tonight was a promising start, every little detail matters along the way, brick by brick. Rome was not built in a day. A lot of people are interested in what I achieved this year, the answer is that I feel good, I have a lot of confidence this season.

I had a great pre-season, I made some changes, but it's just a perspective, everything is oriented towards the long term. Now I'm very cautious on this point." Tiafoe lost his quarter-final match of the Hong Kong tournament against Chinese NextGen Juncheng Shang with a score of 6-4 6-4 without ever breaking his opponent.
