Tommy Paul jokingly revealed he wasn't happy when Andy Roddick switched from Reebok to Lacoste two years after his US Open triumph. In 2003, Roddick became a Grand Slam champion after beating Juan Carlos Ferrero in the US Open final.
In 2005, Roddick switched from Reebok to Lacoste. After the 2003 US Open, Roddick made four more Grand Slam finals but never won a Major title. “At the place where I grew up playing tennis, we had the posters of him when he won in his Reebok fit.
I was actually salty when he switched to Lacoste. I was like 'He's not going to win another slam now' I thought it was the outfits (smiling)," Paul said of Roddick's US Open win, per Musab Abid.

Paul bidding to become the first American since Roddick to win a Major
Paul, 25, defeated Ben Shelton in an all-American Australian Open quarterfinal to progress into his first Grand Slam semifinal.
American men's tennis hasn't had a Grand Slam champion since Roddick won the 2003 US Open title. Now, Paul is just two wins away from ending that drought. But winning the Australian Open is easier said than done for Paul as he plays Novak Djokovic in his next match.
When Paul meets Djokovic, he will play on Rod Laver Arena. Going into this year's Australian Open, Paul wasn't really considered among the top favorites for the title. “I've been on the outside courts grinding until the round of 16.
We haven't had too many big-name matchups. I wasn't on the inside courts for a bit. It’s hard to not fly under the radar when you're out in the park, you know (smiling)," Paul reflected.

Djokovic has dropped just one set at this year's Australian Open and he is definitely the favorite in his match against Paul.
