Andy Roddick was born in Omaha on August 30, 1982.

He was world number 1 in the ATP rankings from November 3, 2003 to February 1, 2004, for a total of thirteen weeks. In his career he won 32 titles, including one Grand Slam tournament, the 2003 US Open, and five Masters Series/Masters 1000 tournaments. He also reached four other Grand Slam finals, three at the Wimbledon tournament (2004, 2005, 2009) and one at the US Open (2006).

2003 was Roddick's best year, in fact he will finish the year as number 1 in the world at just 21 years old. In January he took part in the Sydney tournament without much success, while at the Australian Open he lost against Rainer Schüttler 5-7 6-2 3-6 3-6. Soon after he reached the final against his compatriot Taylor Dent at the Memphis tournament, lost 1-6 4-6.

Andy wins his first and only Grand Slam title, the US Open, meeting and beating in sequence in the first round Tim Henman 6-3 7-6 6-3, in the second round Ivan Ljubicic 6-3 6-7 6-3 7- 6, in third place Flavio Saretta 6-1 6-3 6-3, in fourth place Xavier Malisse 6-3 6-4 7-6, in quarterfinals Sjeng Schalken 6-4 6-2 6-3, in semifinal David Nalbandian 6- 7 3-6 7-6 6-1 6-3, and in the final Juan Carlos Ferrero scoring the match point with an ace; the result was 6-3 7-6 6-3.

In 2009, he married American supermodel and actress Brooklyn Decker. Their firstborn, Hank, was born on October 14, 2015. Since 2001, together with his mother, he has directed the Andy Roddick Foundation, which aims to financially support the most needy children with particular attention paid to victims of abuse or those affected by the most disabling diseases.
