Google News Caroline Wozniacki confirms next tournament after 'frustrating' Australian Open exit

Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki is set to resume action later this month after being awarded with a main draw wildcard into the San Diego Open, via The San Diego Union-Tribune.
After ending her retirement that lasted three and a half years in August, Wozniacki started the 2024 season in time as the Dane competed in Auckland before making her first Australian Open appearance since 2020. Unfortunately for Wozniacki, she didn't make the start to the season that she wanted as she lost in the Auckland first round before also picking up a surprise defeat to Russian teenager Maria Timofeeva in the Australian Open second round.
Considering that Wozniacki isn't participating in the ongoing Middle East Swing, it makes sense that she decided to play in San Diego before Indian Wells and Miami. When the San Diego Open kicks off on February 26th, Wozniacki will be making her debut at the tournament.

“I’ve never spent time in San Diego,” Wozniacki told The San Diego Union-Tribune.
“I’ve heard it’s an amazing place. I can’t wait to come and look around town and play some great tennis. The weather is very nice. I want to get into the best form as possible."
In San Diego, Wozniacki will be looking to clinch some wins and try to make a deep run before the Sunshine Double. After being upset by Timofeeva early in the Australian Open, Wozniacki didn't hide her frustration and disappointment.
"I would like to say that my mind, I can just kind of brush it under the carpet, but it sucks just as much. You know, losing now and losing back then, it doesn't really change. As a competitor you want to win everything," Wozniacki said after her Australian Open loss.
"It definitely sucks and it's disappointing. I felt like this was my match to win, and I didn't."
In San Diego, Wozniacki will be joined by top-10 players Jessica Pegula and Karolina Muchova.
