After working with Rafael Nadal for 17 years, Francisco Roig will train Matteo Berrettini in 2024. Roig was part of Nadal's coaching staff between 2005 and 2022, winning numerous titles with his compatriot before leaving the team last year.
Francisco worked with Sloane Stephens in 2023 and will start a new project with Berrettini. The Italian has been struggling with injuries in the previous two years, undergoing surgery in March last year. Matteo is currently ranked 92nd, scoring 12 wins in 2023 but not playing since the US Open.
Former world no. 6 will kick off the 2024 season in Brisbane, entering the qualifying draw if he does not receive a wild card. Matteo kicked off the season behind us at the United Cup, scoring two top-10 wins before falling to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Taylor Fritz.
