The Australian Open 2024 is upon us and the tennis players who will participate in the Melbourne Slam are preparing for the first Slam of the season. Matteo Berrettini landed in Australia yesterday, in Melbourne, where, barring any surprises, he will participate in the Australian Open. The Italian had to postpone his departure due to a foot problem suffered during training, which forced him to miss the Brisbane tournament for which he was registered.

Fortunately Berrettini will skip the Happy Slam qualifiers and will appear directly in the main draw. In the first training sessions in Melbourne, Matteo trained with Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek champion, like the 27-year-old Italian, is not coming from an easy period and will try to revive his performances. The two trained under the watchful eyes of their coaches Pere Riba, who took over from Vincenzo Santopadre, who has been following Matteo since December and will try to bring him back to the top, and Apostolos, Stefanos' father, who seems to have taken over the exclusive guidance of his son, after the parenthesis with Philippoussis last year. Could the Italian and the Greek collaboratre for the men's doubles at the Australian Open 2024?

Berrettini finally is ready to come back

Meanwhile, the former Italian tennis player Paolo Bertolucci, now a television commentator, expressed his opinion on the former Wimbledon finalist, in the column in the Gazzetta dello Sport: "He cannot have unlearned how to play, he will have to get used to the mental management of the match again and overcome those moments in which doubts will be stronger than certainties.Obviously we cannot immediately ask him to obtain results up to his recent success and the most important thing will be to maintain his health in order to develop a complete season."
