In Las Vegas, this week there will be a double sporting spectacle, with the LIV Golf tournament followed by the Super Bowl, the NFL (National Football League) championship final between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, scheduled for Sunday 11th February.
Las Vegas, statements
Liv Golf Las Vegas, the second tournament of the 2024 Arab Super League, will take place February 8-10 at the Las Vegas Country Club, a 7,203-yard par-72 golf course founded in 1967. After his feat last week in Mexico, where he won on the fourth hole of the play-off against the Spaniard Sergio Garcia, Joaquin Niemann arrives in Las Vegas with high hopes.
The Chilean was also the protagonist of a remarkable partial of "59" shots in the first round, the second lowest score in the history of this circuit after Bryson De Chambeau's "58" in 2023 at the LIV Golf Greenbrier. All eyes will also be on Jon Rahm, the world's highest-paid sportsman, as he makes his debut in golf's separate league.
Despite a third-place individual finish due to two late bogeys, Rahm led his team, "Legion XIII", to victory in the team competition. Other Major champions such as the Australian Cameron Smith, the Americans Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson, together with Sergio Garcia, aspire to a leading role in this tournament.
Talor Gooch, winner of the LIV Golf individual ranking in 2023, will also look to shine. The LIV Golf Las Vegas, like the other regular season events, will offer a prize pool of 25,000,000 dollars, of which 20,000,000 will be allocated to the individual competition (with 4,000,000 for the winner) and 5,000,000 for the team competition, with financial rewards for the top three classified.
Las Vegas is a city in the United States of America, the county seat of Clark County and the largest city in the State of Nevada. It is famous for being the capital of entertainment, shopping and gambling, in rivalry with the comparable city of Reno.
What is commonly called Las Vegas is in fact a set of different administrative units: the city of Las Vegas proper said, the city of North Las Vegas, the city of Henderson and that of Paradise, a vast "unincorporated" area (i.e.
not incorporated into the city, but under the direct management of the county), which includes the famous "Strip", home to shops, hotels and casinos.
