Struggling Karolina Pliskova fires coach amid poor form and rough 2023 season

Coach Sascha Bajin has announced that he and Karolina Pliskova have decided to go their separate ways. In 2020 November, former world No 1 Pliskova hired coach Bajin. After 2022 Wimbledon, Pliskova decided to split with Bajin.

But their split didn't last long as Pliskova and coach Bajin reunited before the start of the 2023 season. Unfortunately for Bajin and Pliskova, the 2023 season hasn't been that great for the 31-year-old Czech, who is 19-13 and has lost six of her last seven matches.

"Hey @KaPliskova thanks for giving it another go with me. Thank you for all the fun moments and memories created. All the best from me to you and good luck at the US Open. Hope you get your slam. Let’s see what’s next for me.

Any suggestions guys?" Bajin wrote.

Pliskova reuniting with Bajin didn't work out

After last year's Wimbledon, Pliskova announced she was splitting with Bajin after a year and a half together.

"I would like to thank @BigSascha for everything he did for me and my team. It was an incredible time and I learned a lot! Mainly how to be more positive and believe in myself. One of the best coaches out there, good luck my friend," Pliskova wrote on Instagram after 2022 Wimbledon.

A few months later - in 2022 December - Pliskova posted a photo with Bajin and captioned it: "Reunited." At the time, Bajin responded: "Thank you for having me back. Let’s go get it." Pliskova started the 2023 season in a solid way as she made the Australian Open quarterfinal before losing to Magda Linette.

In the last three months, Pliskova has been struggling heavily with her form and results as she has won just one of her last seven matches. At this past Wimbledon, Pliskova suffered a shock first-round defeat to Natalija Stevanovic.
