Karolina Pliskova has announced that her 2023 season has come to an end due to a left wrist injury. Pliskova, a former world No 1, didn't have a great 2023 season and the last couple of months were especially rough for the 31-year-old Czech.

This year, Pliskova appeared in 41 matches and posted a 22-19 record. Overall, it was a challenging and difficult season for Pliskova. "Hey everyone! I wanted to share some news with you all. Due to an injury to my left wrist, I've made the tough decision to end my season earlier than planned.

It's never easy to step away from the game, but I believe it's the right decision to focus on my health and come back stronger next season. Thank you for all your support and well wishes. I'll be working hard to get back in top form, and I can't wait to see you all on the court next year!" Pliskova announced on Instagram.

Pliskova didn't enjoy much success in 2023

At the start of the season, Pliskova made the Australian Open quarterfinal and she was also a quarterfinalist in Dubai and Stuttgart.

After reaching the Stuttgart quarterfinal in late April, Pliskova's poor form started. In the next couple of months, Pliskova was picking up consecutive early exits in tournaments. After suffering a shock Wimbledon first-round loss to Natalija Stevanovic, Pliskova decided to split again with coach Sascha Bajin.

"Hey @KaPliskova thanks for giving it another go with me. Thank you for all the fun moments and memories created. All the best from me to you and good luck at the US Open. Hope you get your slam. Let’s see what’s next for me.

Any suggestions guys?" Bajin wrote in July. For Pliskova, the priority is now to heal from her wrist injury and return to action fully healthy in 2024.
