Robin Soderling: Nicolas Jarry Will Surely Bounce Back in 2020

Sweden's new Davis Cup captain Robin Soderling says that Nicolas Jarry will surely return to good form after an unsuccessful second half of the 2019 season. The former World No. 4 was appointed as the new Davis Cup captain of Sweden earlier this week and in his first tie as captain, his team will meet Chile in the World Group qualifiers in March next year.

The winner of that tie will advance to the 18-nation Davis Cup Finals in Madrid next November. Speaking about Jarry and Garin, Soderling says, “Nicolás Jarry won at Bastad this summer and I also met Cristián Garín.

Both are promising players who can reach the top of this sport. I really like both and the Chilean people must be proud Nicolás and Cristian. He (Jarry) played incredible tennis but seems to have had a harder time after that.

He played a very good first half of 2019 and with his way of working, great service and skills, I am sure he will return and win more titles. ” 23-year-old Garin is the top-ranked player in Chile currently and is ranked No.

33 in the world, just one spot below his career-best ranking of No. 22. 24-year-old Jarry is currently the No. 2 player in Chile, being ranked No. 77 in the world, down from No. 38 in the rankings in July. After winning the ATP title in Bastad, Jarry has failed to win a match on the tour and will be looking to regain his form at the beginning of the season in Australia.
