Alex De Minaur is very clear about the goals he wants to achieve during 2024 and presented himself rather confidently in the press conference during the United Cup media day. The Australian player, star of an excellent 2023, has chosen to help his country in the mixed team event scheduled in Australia to prepare physically and mentally for the Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne, the Australian Open.

"As everyone will probably say, the event is very exciting. We are very excited to be here, happy to be in Perth. I can't wait to start competing," he said. De Minaur was then asked about the sensations of being able to compete with the best players: "I think I'm coming from my best season and a year in which I felt that a couple of things they had gone well.

I was able to accomplish a lot of what I set out to do. I'm quite close to getting into the top 10, it's one of my main goals even if it won't be easy," revealed the athlete who is currently 360 points away from that coveted tenth position.

He then explained: "I'm doing all the right things. I hope that a good Australian summer can put me even more in the right direction and that I can get into the top 10. It will be a great start to the year, I have my team supporting me.

I'm excited about it."

The upcoming 2024 tennis season is about to start

Not only the United Cup: the first ATP event of the new tennis season will be the ATP 250 in Brisbane. And Rafael Nadal is the man all are waiting for.

The Spanish tennis champion will come back on a tennis court to play an official match since the injury he suffered at the Australian Open 2023. Not only Rafa. In 2024 there will be the come back of other stars: Naomi Osaka, Angelique Kerber and Emma Raducanu.
