Coco Gauff : "Unless you're Roger Federer, it's hard to be calm"

The young US star Coco Gauff, already number 6 in the world, is indicated by many as one of the possible future rulers of the WTA Tour. There are few aspects to improve that the American has shown in her very young career, so far.

One of these, on which herself said she needs to improve, is not getting overwhelmed by emotions, keeping calm on the court. Coco explained: "Oh, I definitely still have a lot to learn. I'm not perfect yet. There are times when I get too frantic.

But I think she is improving on this aspect. I think that at least now, in the last two games, we can't be more calm than that. It is very difficult to go on the court without reacting. Unless you're like Roger Federer, it's impossible."

Gauff on Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka

Gauff is inspired by Swiatek and Sabalenka: "Sometimes I get angry.

It's just my personality. I think it's not necessarily the reaction, but rather how quickly you can start over from that reaction." There are two tennis players that the class of 2004 sees as inspiring muses, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka.

The first, authentic ruler of last season and of the ATP ranking, despite being only 21 years old, can already boast 3 Grand Slams. The second started the season in a big way, giving herself the first Major of her career, the Australian Open.

She added: "I remember before Iga won the Roland Garros, she had lost a lot of matches. The same goes for Sabalenka. Last year, in that January swing, she wasn't playing her best. She still had a good year last year, even though she says she doesn't feel fit.

She still finished in the top eight. But as with these experiences, I have to remind myself that this is life. There are ups and downs and you just have to bide your time and keep working hard for that moment."
