Coco Gauff, between big dreams and pressure management

The young US tennis star Coco Gauff will be one of the next stars in the weeks to come. But she, meanwhile, talked about her dreams and about the managing of pressure. The women's tour moved mainly to the Middle East, all chasing the 500 title in Doha.

The best tennis players in the WTA rankings are present in the Qatari capital to play the Qatar Total Open, which started on Monday 13 February. In addition to world number one Iga Swiatek, world number six and US number two, Coco Gauff, are also present in the main draw.

At the age of 19, the former number one in doubles is already a veteran of the WTA Tour and all has always expected a lot from her, including a victory at a young age in a Grand Slam tournament, as others have already done in the past, from her countrywoman Serena Williams.

On being a child prodigy, the American said at the Media Day of the Doha tournament: "Everything is under a lot of pressure, so pressure is something I've been dealing with all my life. It's something I'm maybe not used to, because you never get used to it, but I have to learn to handle it better every day.

The more you experiment at first, the better you can fight those feelings."

Coco Gauff dreams big goals: her wise words

Winning a Grand Slam title, which she came close to at the Roland Garros, is a goal the young American misses.

She said during the press conefernce, as reported by puntodebreak.com: "It's a question for which I won't have an answer until the time comes, until I've taken that step. I know I have to adjust some tactical aspects, but you don't know how you'll feel about going to win a Grand Slam final, it's impossible until you do.

We'll see if I can do it, that day I'll answer the question better." A dream that has not yet come true, but which wants to become a concrete goal in this new season: "Obviously the biggest goal is to win a Grand Slam. After that, I want to win more titles, especially the WTA 500 and WTA 1000 titles, which I haven't achieved yet.

This is the biggest goal, apart from the Grand Slam, to do better in these events, beating the best players if possible."
