Daria Kasatkina couldn´t believe that a person celebrated her and Iga Swiatek´s Australian Open exits by tagging them and poking fun at them by wishing "a nice flight home."

On Thursday, 14th-seeded Kasatkina exited the Australian Open in the second round following a loss to Sloane Stephens. In what was a very tricky matchup, Kasatkina made a positive start but 2017 US Open champion Stephens came back from a set down to beat the Russian 4-6 6-3 6-3.

Two days later, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek shockingly suffered a third-round defeat at Melbourne Park. Despite being up by a set in a matchup in which she was highly favored, Swiatek ended on the losing side after 19-year-old Linda Noskova recovered from a set down to stun the top-seeded Pole 3-6 6-3 6-4.

"@DKasatkina @iga_swiatek have a nice flight home," one person wrote on X.

After seeing the post, Kasatkina was left stunned, writing: "Are those people real? I refuse to share same planet with them."

Kasatkina had a positive run in Australia

Although Kasatkina´s Australian Open campaign was short-lived, it still wasn´t a bad Australian swing for the 26-year-old Russian.

Kasatkina, ranked at No. 13 in the world, kicked off her 2024 season at the Brisbane International, where she made the quarterfinal before losing to world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka. After a solid Brisbane run, Kasatkina reached the Adelaide International final - in which she fell short to Jelena Ostapenko.

After Brisbane and Adelaide, Kasatkina concluded her Australian Open swing by losing to Stephens in the second round at Melbourne Park. While Kasatkina would have certainly preferred to have made a deeper Australian Open run, she still left Australia with one WTA final under her belt in 2024.

Now, Kasatkina will probably rest and start preparing for the Middle East Swing, which kicks off in early February.
