David Puig, Jeunghun Wang, and Denwit Boriboonsub have secured their spots in the 152nd Open Championship, set to take place at Royal Troon. They accomplished this feat through the IRS Prima Malaysia Open, the third event of the Open Qualifying Series, held at The Mines Resort & Golf Club.

Puig claimed victory at the Asian Tour event with a total score of 261, 23 under par, following consecutive rounds of 62 in the third and final round. Wang delivered a final round of 61 to secure the second qualifying spot with 21 under par, while Boriboonsub clinched the final qualifying berth due to his higher position in the world rankings compared to John Catlin, with whom he shared third place at -20.
The next event in the Open Qualifying Series is the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, scheduled to take place at Bay Hill from March 7th to 10th. David Puig Currius, born on December 7, 2001, is a Spanish professional golfer who made the decision to cut short his college career in 2022 to join LIV Golf.
During his amateur career, Puig enjoyed success in junior competitions, representing Spain at the Junior Golf World Cup in Japan, earning silver in 2018 and bronze in 2019. He also represented Europe in the 2018 Junior Ryder Cup.
Notable achievements include a third-place finish at the 2021 European Amateur Championship. In 2019, Puig enrolled at Arizona State University, where he played collegiate golf for the Arizona State Sun Devils men's team. He made a significant impact, winning the 2021 Southwestern Invitational by a record nine strokes in just his fifth collegiate stroke play tournament and successfully defending his title in 2022.
Additionally, he participated in the Arnold Palmer Cup in 2020 and 2021, with an individual record of 3–1 in both events. Puig's accomplishments earned him recognition as the Catalan Player of the Year in 2021 by the Catalan Association of Golf Journalists.
In 2022, he helped lead the Sun Devils to the final match at the NCAA Championship and was invited to compete in the inaugural tournament of the LIV Golf Invitational Series at Centurion Club. Turning professional in September 2022, Puig joined LIV Golf and made his debut as a professional at the LIV Golf Invitational Chicago.
He also joined the Asian Tour, where he impressed by holding the third-round lead at the International Series Morocco before finishing third. In 2023, Puig became a member of the Torque GC team for the LIV Golf League, alongside players like Joaquín Niemann, Sebastián Muñoz, and Mito Pereira.
Despite being the youngest player on the roster, Puig contributed to Torque's victories at team events in Orlando, Washington, Andalusia, and Greenbrier. In October 2023, he secured his first professional win at the International Series Singapore tournament on the Asian Tour, leading wire-to-wire and winning by five strokes.
