Jannik Sinner was the superstar of the Davis Cup semi-finals. The young Italian talent beat Novak Djokovic twice, first in the singles match, then in doubles. Also present to watch the match between Serbia and Italy was Matteo Berrettini.
The former Wimbledon finalist was unable to arrive in good physical condition at the end of the season to be among captain Filippo Volandri's squad for the final stages of the Davis Cup. Despite the many difficulties he had, the Roman tennis player could not miss the appointment in Malaga to support and encourage his teammates during training and matches.
The 27-year-old player made an important moral contribution from the bench. At the end of the match against Novak Djokovic's Serbia, the former Wimbledon finalist greeted and affectionately embraced Jannik Sinner after his feat with Novak Djokovic and the double won together with Lorenzo Sonego.
