Naomi Osaka explains what she liked about Camila Osorio following AO win

Former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka said it felt "really amazing" to play against Camila Osorio in the Australian Open first round. Osaka, now ranked at No. 14 in the world, saw off Osorio 6-3 6-3 to reach the Australian Open second round.

"I thought it was really amazing to play against [Osorio]," Osaka said in her post-match press conference, per the WTA website. "She was loud, she was fighting. I think that's something special. I really commended her for that.

I thought she had a great return. She was really bold. She kind of stepped in really close to the line. "I think I was pretty solid. I think I was up 5-0 and had a little dip, but I was fortunate enough to close it out. I think that's something that I hope I'm not in that position in my next match.

If I am, I already did it this time around, so I guess I'll learn from it."

Osaka routinely handled Osorio

Osaka made a strong start to the match, having won the opening five games. Osorio got one break back and reduced the deficit to 5-3 but Osaka served out for the opener in the ninth game.

After winning the first set, Osaka broke Osorio twice in the second set to complete a straight-set win. Osaka, 24, beat 20-year-old Osorio to set up a Madison Brengle meeting. Before the start of the tournament, Osaka stated she has nothing left to prove.

"Respectfully I don't have anything to prove," Osaka said on Instagram. "Before my first slam I was told I had potential but probably not gonna capitalize on it. After my first slam I was told I got lucky and I was a one-hit wonder.

After my second Slam I was told I could be great but I was unsure. After my third and fourth slams I was told I will only be good on hard courts. Moral of the story - people are always gonna have something to say and idgaf [I don't give a f***] anymore."
