It was Dart who made a positive start to the match as the Briton took an early 3-1 lead. After falling 3-1 down, Swiatek responded in an impressive style as she claimed five breaks in a row and won 11 consecutive games to book a 6-3 6-0 win.
Meanwhile, Petra Kvitova wasn't that lucky as she lost to Sorana Cirstea in her Melbourne opener. Kvitova hasn't had a great start to the season and she is hoping to turn her season around in the upcoming period. Kvitova concluded her Australian summer with just one win and three losses.
Kvitova lost her openers in Adelaide and Melbourne, while she made the round-of-16 in Sydney. "It wasn't really going my way the whole month. That's how it is, I think. It's a sport, and I just have to fight through and be better at it," Kvitova said, per Tennis Majors.
"I think I didn't play a lot of matches at the beginning of this year. I did have some health issues the whole month as well, so it was tough to practice. It wasn't really as easy this beginning of the season, but the season is long, so I hope that it will turn around."
