Tennis- 2013 Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki and this year's Australian Open semifinalist Johanna Konta have been knocked out in the first round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart Germany. World No.22 Johanna Konta was up against World.
52, German wildcard Anna-Lena Friedsam. Konta got the first break of serve in the third game but the local player broke back in the next game. Friedsam got another break in the eighth game and took the first set 6-3. In the second set Friedsam was even more dominant as she held all of her serves and broke the British player twice to take the second set 6-3 and booked her place in the second round.
The other German, Lisicki was playing against World No.40 Timea Babos. The Hungarian got a break in the third game and then served for the set at 5-4 but Lisicki broke back to force the set into the tie-break. Babos raced to a 6-0 lead, before Lisicki saved 4 set points and reduced the lead to 6-4. But Babos finally converted the fifth set point and won the first set.
In the second set Babos broke her opponent twice to go 5-1 up and again Lisicki tried to make a comeback and got one break back. She could not get the second break back as Babos held her serve and proceeded into the next round.
