Karolina Pliskova to take on Yanina Wickmayer at Prague semi-finals!

Top-seed Karolina Pliskova continued her strong run at the Prague Open and surged ahead into the semi-finals. The Czech had to fight off resilient countrywoman, Denisa Allertova en route to securing her victory. Pliskova won 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 in one hour 35 minutes and will play Yanina Wickmayer in the semi-final.

The Belgian also had a tough battle on her hands against qualifier Danka Kovinic and needed one hour 53 minutes to move into the penultimate stage of the tournament. Wickmayer dropped the first set, 2-6 but recovered well to take the next two 6-3, 6-3 and claim victory.

In the second half, it was Katerina Siniakova who moved into the semi-final courtesy of her upset over third seed and compatriot, Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. Siniakova won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in one hour 21 minutes and will play yet another countrywoman in Lucie Hradecka, in the semi-final.

Hradecka also needed three sets to get past Klara Koukalova and won 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 in two hours 13 minutes. She had a chance to serve for the match at 5-4 in the final set, but was broken by Koukalova to equalise the set at 5-5.

She yet again broke Koukalova to lead 6-5, before serving out the match in the 12th game.
