WTA TOKYO - Top seed Misaki Doi and second seed Yanina Wickmayer knocked out in first round

Tennis- Top seed Misaki Doi and defending champion, second seed Yanina Wickmayer were knocked out in the first round of the Japan Open Women's Tennis tournament in Tokyo whereas fourth seed Johanna Larsson reached second round after winning in straight sets against Sabine Lisicki.
Top seed Misaki Doi, who is ranked 35th in the WTA Rankings, took on World No.110 Aliaksandra Sasnovich. Both players broke each other three times in first 10 games as it was levelled at 5-5. Sasnovich broke Doi for the fourth time and held her serve to take the first set 7-5.
In the second set Belarusian outclassed the Japanese and did not face any break point on her serve. She broke Doi twice to take the second set 6-3 and will face USA's Alison Riske for a place in the Quarterfinals of the tournament.
Second seed, defending champion Wickmayer faced World No.73 Viktorija Golubic. The Swiss did not let Wickmayer hold any service game in first set and broke her four times. She took the first set 6-1 but second set was close and was decided by a tie-break, which Swiss player won 9-7 to cause the upset.
Fourth seed faced 2013 Wimbedon finalist Sabine Lisicki. It was their second meeting, as they had also met in Indian Wells this year, when the Swede won in 3 sets. But this time Larsson won in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. She will face America's Varvara Lepchenko now.
In another first round encounter, Czech Republic's Katerina Siniakova defeated German lucky loser Antonia Lotter in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 and will face America's Louisa Chirico now.
