The World No. 68 and 2009 US Open semifinalist Yanina Wickmayer could be in troubles. On Monday the Belgian tennis player received a warning from the Lovrain court for making construction infractions in building her home in Diest between 2012 and 2013.
According to the minister, there were some irregularities about the flooring and outside elements like the three doors that give access to the garage. Also, some trees were cut down. On Tuesday Bob Laes, Wickmayer's lawyer, spoke about the situation, saying that 'Yanina is currently focused on preparing for the Miami event, one of the most important ones of the season.
She cannot be in the court as she practice in the United States.' 'The public minister asked for jail, without revealing the lenghty, and a €50,000 fine and not €900.000 as it was written in some articles. The court still has to comment on it, that's why it's too early to draw conclusions.
I can confirm Yanina wasn't aware of it and that she wasn't personally informed or asked about ot. We were surprised and asked for the acquittal. We are convinced that we will solve the issue in a right and appropriate way. The decision will be made within 10 April', finally said Laes.
