Google News Prague Open: Barbora Krejcikova, Tereza Martincova hold the fort for Czechs at home

Barbora Krejcikova advanced to the semi-finals of the Prague Open on Friday with a win over doubles partner Katerina Siniakova in the quarter-final. The second seed posted an emphatic 6-3, 6-0 win in just 66 minutes in what was their first career meeting on the WTA tour.
Krejcikova won 65% of her first-serve points to Siniakova’s 68%. However, she won 72% of her second-serve points as compared to her opponent’s 25% which accounted for the biggest difference in the match. The reigning French Open champion also converted five of the seven break points she had.
Krejcikova was also broken once in the match but faced no break point in the second set. The world no. 17 finished with 23 points more than Siniakova for the entirety of the match. In the semi-final, Krejcikova will play Xinyu Wang.
Wang came through 6-3, 6-3 in her quarter-final against Grace Min.
Prague Open: Tereza Martincova makes it to the penultimate round
The Chinese won 74% points off her first serves and 54% points off her second serves. Min, on the other hand, won almost 64% points off her first serves and 33% points off her second serves.
Wang went on to break the American’s serve on four occasions while saving seven of the eight break points, she faced. At the top of the draw, Tereza Martincova and Greet Minnen have set up the other semi-final in the Czech capital.
The eighth-seeded Martincova defeated Viktoria Kuzmova 6-2, 6-2 in 68 minutes. The Czech broke the Slovakian’s serve six times while she, too, lost her serve twice. Martincova wrapped up the match with 63 points to her opponent’s 41.
Meanwhile, in her Prague Open quarter-final against Storm Sanders, the ninth-seeded Greet Minnen posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory after 66 minutes of play. The Belgian made good of six of the seven break points she had although she was able to save only one of the three break points, she faced. Minnen won 64 points in the match to the Australian’s 39.
