Martina Trevisan: "I'm also amazed by myself!"

The Italian Martina Trevisan is one of the surprises of the Roland Garros 2020: in the quarter-finals against Iga Swiatek (another big surprise of the tournament) she will have perhaps the greatest chance of her career to reach a Grand Slam-semifinal.

Her story is fascinating, with personal problems, and the joy of an incredible come back. Here are her words in the press conference: "I know I did a great thing arriving here today. The message is to focus on your dreams and never give up.

I'm also a little amazing myself. At these levels I was never there. arrived; I started again calmly, step by step, I was very on the go I was just aiming to feel good on the pitch. Match after match I realized that I could still have my say.

My team has always believed in me, they have always repeated to me that I could stay at this level, even when I was a little hesitant. Also thanks to their help I am realizing where I am now. As for the money, it comes first to have reached the quarters, but money is also important!"

The next opponent will be Iga Swiatek, who surprisingly scrambled the first favorite Simona Halep.

On her next rival Trevisan said: "I have always followed Swiatek, I played her three years ago in an ITF; she was very small but you could already see that she could become very strong in fact I only won in third place. I replayed her on the grass last year.

year, losing in two sets, but there is no comparison because it is a totally different surface. I know it serves very well, it is very charged, it always makes you feel the pressure and plays well even from the bottom. I usually use the left-handed forehand, the serve and the slice and back to try to break players' patterns.

I will continue to work on these things." In the other press-conference, Simona Halep, in a press conference after the defeat in two sets against Iga Swiatek, showed a lot of respect and fair play, praising her opponent and still showing herself serene, despite the unexpected defeat in the fourth round of the French Open 2020, and despite her was the big favorite for the final victory: "The merits are hers, she managed everything perfectly.

She played a game very similar to last year, but the difference was in my lesser ability to push her to the baseline and not to give her time and opportunity to attack the ball. Despite everything we have experienced, for me it was still a positive season having won in Rome it will not be a wrong game to ruin it.

I can say that the cold, as it had already happened to me, it didn't make me feel at my best. But nothing to do with injury, that's the most important thing."
