Sofia Kenin is feeling fit and healthy as the 2020 Australian Open champion is aiming to get some good preparation at the World Tennis League ahead of what she is hoping to be a great 2024 season. After battling injuries and starting the 2023 season ranked at No 235 in the world, Kenin managed to have a solid bounce back season and finish the year ranked at No 33 in the world.

This week, Kenin is competing at the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi. In Abu Dhabi, former world No 4 Kenin is hoping to get some great preparation and return to her form that was once making a Slam contender and a top-5 player.

“The main thing is to bring back the feeling for the game, get some point play back in my training and kind of get a feel of things, and then carry that momentum into 2024. I’m just trying to have a good preparation period for the season like I’ve been doing, and hopefully, I can have a solid start to 2024.

I’m fit and healthy at the moment and this should help with preparation for the year, so I’m looking forward to it," Kenin told Gulf News.

In Abu Dhabi, some of the top players in the world are competing, including Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina.

Kenin acknowledged the competition is very strong in Abu Dhabi and highlighted that she is looking forward to playing. “Everyone who’s here is obviously a great player. It’s hard to choose just one! I think it’s going to be a great atmosphere with this team event format and I think representing our team well will be important, so I’m looking forward to that.

Should be a great weekend," Kenin said. In January, Kenin will return to Melbourne Park - a place where her lone Grand Slam win came. After a positive 2023 season, Kenin will certainly be hoping to continue trending in the right direction in 2024 and try to return to being one of the best players in the game.
